Using Webi Documents

Advantages:

• Leverages current investment into existing Web Intelligence reports deployments
• Based on existing, already verified query with familiar dataset
• Allows using datasets based on historical instance
• User does not have to be familiar with universe structure

Disadvantages:

• Can not modified query without modifying Webi
• Does not allow to preview data directly in Live Connect
• Refreshing Webi is a bit slower than running universe queries

Using Universe Queries

Advantages:

• Easily create, modify and save ad-hoc query using Live Connect Custom Query Designer
• Preview result set data directly in Live Connect
• Best performance compare to the the same query running in Webi document

Disadvantages:

• No ability to schedule the refresh and use of historical instance
• User has to be familiar with universe structure
